Welcome to the AI in Motion Competition 2026

In view of creating awareness and preparing our youth to discover AI tools which would be ubiquitous in their future careers, The Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation in collaboration with MDPA and MFDC is organizing an AI Competition “AI in Motion” with the theme “Road Safety Video Quest” meant for Tertiary Level students. This initiative challenges students to leverage Artificial Intelligence to produce impactful, short videos.

The AI Competition will aim to:
> Foster AI innovation and problem-solving skills.
> Engage students in AI Tools and development.
> Promote awareness on road safety challenges, using AI-driven solutions.
> Promote collaboration with the education sector.

Main Themes and Focus Areas

Road Safety - Create with AI. Drive with Care.

Participants are expected to generate and produce a 90-second Video Clip using mostly AI Tools and Platforms, with some non-AI Tools in line and pertaining to Road Safety in Mauritius.

Focus Areas relevant for Road Safety in Mauritius:
1. Alcohol and Drugs, a lethal combination
2. Silent Killers: Fatigue & Distraction
3. The “Penalty Point” Era
4. Night Rodeos
5. Motorcyclist Safety – Wearing Helmets and high-visibility gear at night
6. Speeding & Risky Driving – Speed saves seconds, but costs lives
7. Using mobile phones while driving – One glance is enough for an accident
8. Night-Time & Low Visibility Risks
9. or ANY Other Area pertaining to Road Safety in general

Eligibility

Tertiary Level Students

   The Competition is open for Teams comprising of Tertiary Level students, currently enrolled in any registered University or Tertiary Institution in Mauritius

Competition Rules

The rules for the Competition set the conditions for participation in the competition.
They are designed to ensure fairness, originality, and responsible use of AI tools by all teams.
All participants are expected to read and comply fully with these rules before submitting their work

Prizes and Awards

Interesting Prizes will be awarded to Winners and Runner Ups, including:

  • Prize Money for Winners:
    • 1st Prize: Rs 50,000
    • 2nd Prize: Rs 40,000
    • 3rd Prize: Rs 30,000
    • 4th Prize: Rs 20,000
    • 5th Prize: Rs 10,000
  • After the conclusion of the competition, the Mauritius Film Development Corporation (MFDC) will support the creative and professional journey of the Winners and Runners-up of the AI Competition by offering free admission to MFDC Masterclasses.
  • Broadcast of the 5 best videos on national TV and social media platforms
  • Certificates of Participation will be awarded to all participants
